Research Scientists
VICTOR KAUFMAN (he/him) is a former graduate student and current research scientist of the UCLA Marriage and Close Relationships Lab. He received a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine in 2015 and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology in 2020.  He primarily studies adult friendship and how close relationship processes uniquely affect well-being. He is also interested in psychometrics and how its application can aide our measurement of various phenomena in close relationships.  
DAVID KENNEDY (he/him) is a research scientist of the UCLA Marriage and Close Relationships Lab and social and behavioral scientist at the RAND Corporation. He is currently developing innovative methods for targeting social network and romantic relationship factors in health intervention. Find out more about David Kennedy at the RAND Corporation website. Postdoctoral Scholars
RAQUAEL JOINER (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Scholar who received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology with an Advanced Quantitative Social Science Minor in August 2020. Trained as a developmental methodologist, Raquael’s research broadly focuses on the interface of theory and methods (i.e., research designs and statistical models) involved in the study of change over time. Out of this broader concentration, her more specific research interests have evolved in three interrelated areas—methods for studying change at multiple timescales, dyadic data analyses, and emotion dynamics.
Laboratory Administration
ARIANA GONZALES (she/her) is the current laboratory administrator of the UCLA Marriage and Close Relationships Lab. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Cognitive Science from UCLA in 2020.  She completed an Honors Thesis with the lab and has led its observational coding team.
